The wine
region
Neusiedlersee
Seewinkel
The Neusiedlersee area lies in the heart of the Pannonian climate zone. This area is characterized by hot, dry summers with moderate rainfall and cold winters with little snow. The area is also home to nutrient-rich black soil, calcareous gravel soil and salty, sandy soil. They offer the ideal conditions for unique grapes and wines.
An important factor for the microclimate is Lake Neusiedl, the largest steppe lake in Central Europe. The grapes can develop early due to the heat storage of the lake, over which a breeze constantly blows in summer, which has an optimal effect on ripeness and quality. This unique climate in the Seewinkel enables us to vinify not only red wines, but also white wines and top-class sweet wines. The result is unmistakable wines that reflect the origin of the Neusiedlersee region and present themselves as ideal companions for all situations in life.
The
Vineyards
When tending our vineyards, we focus on promoting the natural resilience of the vine. The focus is on the right grape variety selection for the right location, the ripening time of the variety, its yield as well as susceptibility to botrytis and resistance to winter frosts.
Gentle ground care also plays a significant role, beginning with preparatory measures before new planting, mulching and methods to protect against erosion or soil compaction, for example by driving on the rows of vines less frequently. The natural and gentle philosophy that we begin in the vineyards, continues in our cellar. In the long-term, our vines will only give their all in an intact ecosystem with healthy soil and fully reflect their terroir in our wine.
