The history
of our
winery
Our winery was founded in 1926 by Rudolf Steindorfer. In contrast to many other farms in the area, which also operate grain or livestock, we have always been just one thing from the start: a pure wine-growing business.
For this reason, the knowledge of wine has been running through our family for a long time. We know our soil, we know our vineyards, we know our vines. In 1971, Ernst Steindorfer, the son of Rudolf Steindorfer, entered the wine business and, together with his wife Rosi, expanded the winery. Young winemaker Roland Steindorfer has been in charge of the business since 2012. The combination of natural production and the courage to go your own way have made him win national and international prizes in just a short period of time. His motto: „We think we have experiences, but experiences make us.“
Our
team
The Steindorfer winery is a family business in which several generations work towards a common goal: to make the best wine possible. We make sure that our employees work with enthusiasm and intensity in order to strengthen and expand the reputation of our wines.
The aim of our team is to rethink what exists, but not to forget it. We seek the balance between and the possibilities that technical progress offers us today. Today, making wine also tradition means monitoring fermentation processes by computer. But it is still irreplaceable to walk through the rows of vines at dawn and trust in instincts that only arise through experience and exchange with one another. We live this motto in our team.
Philosophy
WE STRIVE FOR COMPLEX AND NUANCED WINES with character typical of the area, created through NATURAL AND SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT. Whether we call ourselves vintners, winegrowers, winemakers or cellar masters is of secondary importance to us. NATURE MAKES THE WINE WITH US.
EVERY RAY OF SUN and EVERY RAINDROP influences the grapes.
As winegrowers, we support the growth of the vines and learn anew every year what the weather does to them - and what it allows us to do. We see vines growing, and we see how they can be destroyed by hail, storm, frost, or drought. We are confronted with the increasingly real effects of climate change. Its impact on our product is enormous, creating ever more extreme and changing conditions. Nevertheless, OUR STANDARD remains the same: to produce TOP QUALITY WINES WITHOUT COMPROMISE.
